Designing Interactive Learning — What’s on the Menu?

FREE webinar presented by the Washington, DC ASTD Chapter
REGISTRATION is mandatory at http://www.dcastd.org/Event_Calendar?eventId=367474

Designing Interactive Learning — What’s on the Menu?

Learners benefit when learning design is interactive and engaging – but where do learning professionals turn for interactive ideas? This session introduces a unique framework, developed to help a client identify interactive strategies that are suitable both face-to-face and virtual events. Using the learning cycle, discover a wide range of interactive techniques that apply to groups of all sizes, such as different ways to make presentations, or to liven up panel discussions. And hear more about how the client transformed their annual conference into a highly interactive learning environment.

Speaker:

Michael Randel has spent more than 20 years designing and facilitating interactive learning events. His experience of working with clients on four continents has resulted in a unique framework for designing interactive learning that can be applied in groups of all sizes, whether meeting in person or virtually. Michael founded Randel Consulting Associates in 2006, and works with clients at local, national and global levels. He is an active member of DCASTD and the Mid-Atlantic Facilitators’ Network (MAFN).

The link to the SIG webinar will be provided in the registration confirmation email.

Estimating the Cost of eLearning Projects

FREE webinar presented by ASTD Washington, DC Chapter
REGISTRATION is required at http://www.dcastd.org/Event_Calendar?eventId=363755

Estimating the Cost of eLearning Projects

eLearning continues to develop as a feasible and cost-effective method to deliver training. However, the process of designing and developing eLearning is not without its abundance of complexities and decisions. Perhaps just as challenging of a task is ascertaining an accurate estimation of the skills, time, and resources required to complete a project. In this session, you will find answers to essential questions such as the following:
• What processes and roles to consider
• How to identify major process milestones
• What key factors to consider that impact cost
• Documenting assumptions
• How to apply estimation techniques to a project
• How to respond to RFPs
• How to avoid pitfalls such as unclear scope and client roles, scope creep, ill-defined system specifications, or lack of sufficient skill base to complete a project

About the Presenter
Since 1992, Mark Steiner has designed, developed, and managed custom eLearning and interactive media programs for a variety of clients. He holds a BS in Industrial Technology and an MS in Industrial Training. His project roles have varied from group director to project manager, and lead instructional designer to lead programmer. He is intimately familiar with proven eLearning methodologies. Since 2001, Mark has been president of his eLearning consulting firm, mark steiner, inc. He has instructed graduate-level courses on designing and developing eLearning projects and enjoys speaking at a variety of training and eLearning conferences in the U.S. and Europe.
